Indian Head Massage has many physiological and emotional benefits. It has its origins in India and dates back to 600BC. It was brought to Britain in 1973 by an osteopath and massage therapist, Narendra Mehta.
This treatment focuses on the face, head and scalp, neck, shoulders, upper back and arms. It is a great treatment to have as a stand-alone treatment, or as an add-on to your foot or facial reflexology treatment. The treatment lasts for 45 minutes (or up to 30 minutes in a combined treatment). It is carried out with the client fully clothed, it is recommended that you wear a loose fitting lightweight top. There are no oils used within the treatment.

After consultation, you will recline on the treatment couch. You remain fully clothed, removing socks if you are also having reflexology, and I will start the treatment with some gentle head holding and chakra balancing. I use different types of massage movements (effleurage, petrissage, tapotement and frictions) throughout the treatment and will work on the face, head and scalp, neck, arms, shoulders and upper back.
Most clients find this treatment incredibly relaxing, and many even drift off to sleep! As there is some changing of position from lying on your back to lying on your front so that I can work the upper back and shoulder areas, I recommend having this treatment first if you are combining it with foot reflexology, and it can easily be added to a facial reflexology treatment or enjoyed as a stand-alone treatment.
After treatment it is recommended that clients drink plenty of water to aid flushing out of toxins, avoid eating a large meal for several hours as the body needs energy for healing, avoid smoking, alcohol, tea and coffee and rest as much as possible.
